US News & World Report Ranks Lancaster as the Best Place to Retire
A home builder specializing in resort-style amenities and maintenance-free living, Traditions of America constructs new home communities catered to buyers aged 55 and up. Recently, Traditions of America highlighted a ranking that named Lancaster, Pennsylvania, home to its Lititz community, the number-one place to retire in the U.S.
A multi-platform publisher, U.S. News & World reports information and news through its website and annual e-book and print publications. It recently released a list of the Best Places to Retire in the U.S., of which Lancaster outranked 124 other cities.
The livability of Lancaster achieved a 6.7 ranking overall, with strong scores in the quality of life and value categories. The cost of living was calculated as affordable compared to other leading metropolitan areas in part because home prices compare favorably to the national median home sale price. Additionally, the city is small, which puts most attractions within close proximity to residents. The city has many fun activities to tap into, such as First Friday art walks and, during the winter, numerous indoor sports to enjoy.
